Ni-Cad and other Rechargables

Ni-Cads are some of, if not, the most durable battery that you can
purchase. However, even they have their problems just as any other
batteries do. Their biggest problem is they have a lower capacity than the
Li-Ion and Ni-MH. But they can be recharged up to 1000 times which is
higher than the other two batteries.

Ni-MH cells have a higher capacity than Ni-Cad but lower than Li-Ion. Than
cannot be charged as many times as a Ni-Cad but more than the Li-Ion.

Li-Ion has the highest capacity of all three of the batteries but has a shorter
life span. It also is the most expensive of the three batteries.

Ni-Cad and Ni-MH can be interchanged with each other. But if your
equipment is designed for Li-Ion batteries, you must use them only!

Before buying a battery operated device you must determine the type of
cell that is used, how much operating time you need, and how much you
want to spend on replacement batteries. This is not a science but it is
rather simple. Ask yourself if you really need the equipment to run forever
on one charge or if you can change or charge the batteries more often.
Remember that Ni-Cad cost so much less than Li-Ion that you can afford to
have a spare battery charged and ready. We are not trying to scare you off
from using Li-Ion batteries. They are good batteries but cost a great deal of
money to replace.
